Alum Day 2026

Coming Home to the Boathouse:

SI Women’s Rowing is growing and gaining momentum. We had a strong fall season, and new athletes are settling in. The program keeps moving forward.

Since our current coaches came back four years ago, we’ve aimed to make the boathouse feel like home for both current athletes and alumni. We’ve worked to rebuild connections, welcome everyone’s voices, and create moments that show why this sport stays with us long after we stop racing. That spirit leads us to one of our favorite yearly traditions.

Alum Day is Saturday, February 21, at 1:00 pm

📍 Lake Merced Boathouse

Enjoy Coffee & bagels | Class races and SI Alum Community

Alum Day is meant to be simple. On Saturday morning, February 20, we’ll meet at the boathouse after practice for coffee and bagels, catch up with old friends, and watch or join class boats as alumnae race each other on Lake Merced.

And yes, this is your official invitation.

This year, we’d love to gather eight women alumnae for some lighthearted fun and laughter on the water. There’s no pressure or expectations, just the joy of being back in a boat and remembering how much fun rowing can be. If you’re not interested in racing, that’s completely fine. Alum Day is about being together, not about performance.

Why It Matters

Our current athletes gain so much from meeting the women who came before them—women who balanced school, rowing, friendships, challenges, victories, and growth, just like they do now. When you show up, it sends a strong message: rowing doesn’t end at graduation, and this program’s history is alive and worth continuing. For many of you, Alum Day is a reminder that the boathouse is still your home.

Help Us Plan and Share Your Thoughts

If you want to row, ride in the launch, or just come to Alum Day, please fill out the questionnaire so we can plan for boats and logistics. If you can’t make it but want to share feedback, reflections, or ideas for alum engagement, we’d love to hear from you. The same link lets you share your thoughts. Whether you’ve visited recently or it’s been years since you were at Lake Merced, remember this:

You are always welcome here.

We hope to see you on February 21, with coffee in hand, laughter on the dock, and maybe even eight oars moving together again.
