  • Isa Schlampp - The University of Southern California

  • Coxwain Olivia Galligan - Gonzaga University

  • Aisling Landers - The University of Central Florida

  • Jackie Ewing - The United States Naval Academy

  • Coxswain Sofia Filice - The University of California, Berkeley

These commitments are not just personal achievements but symbols of our program's strong foundation, where athletes benefit from an exceptional opportunity to learn, train, and grow within a distinctive high school experience.

What makes rowing at SI truly special is its accessibility. Unlike many other sports that students begin in elementary school, rowing often starts in high school, allowing students to enter with little or no prior experience. Inspired by other athletic programs, like the football team, our rowers can walk on and gain expert coaching every day after school. Rowing opens doors to genuinely contribute to a high-level team and take pride in being recognized on campus as student-athletes while sharing the rewards of representing SI.

It's crucial to understand that this celebratory moment on a Wednesday in November—when our athletes officially commit to collegiate programs—is the culmination of relentless work. It's a milestone built on countless hours of practice and an unshakable work ethic. And it's just the beginning. When November rolls around in college, the hype fades, and the reality of early mornings and demanding workouts takes over. Success at the collegiate level depends on the resilience and discipline instilled here at SI. Our women's team is guided by professional coaches who play a pivotal role in shaping our athletes in the sport and life. These coaches, who have walked the very same halls of SI, competed in the same boathouse and gone on to row for prestigious programs, bring unparalleled insight and experience, fostering an environment where our athletes can grow and succeed on and off the water.

We contacted Olivia O'Neill, a University of Texas, Austin recruit from SI's class of '24. Olivia reflects that while she didn't begin training for this Division I opportunity at a young age, her dedication to the team and the training the coaches provided opened doors for her. Olivia believes that her sense of belonging and inspiring teammates magnify her college experience at UT —all of which she attributes to rowing, which she says has been life-changing.

As we celebrate our seniors and their exciting college commitments, we also celebrate the journey. They have been supported every step of the way by their coaches, teammates, and the entire SI community, and we are confident that they will continue to thrive in their collegiate careers.
