As we wrap up the fall and winter training season, the St. Ignatius Women's Rowing team celebrates an extraordinary period of growth and achievement. This past Saturday, we concluded our structured training with the Krampus Clash on Lake Merced—a festive, holiday-themed regatta that brought lighthearted competition and camaraderie to the season's end. Competing against some of the region's most respected clubs, including Marin, Pacific, and Oakland, our back-to-back victories in the Junior Eight and Fours events underscore our progress and hard work.

However, upon reflection, these successes are no accident. They stem from an intentional effort by our coaching staff to "make time" for athletes and their families. Off-season training educates athletes on how to row, train, and lift effectively and become the student-athletes they aspire to be. We equip them with the tools to achieve their goals through a quality progressive training model, assistive technology, and productive programming. Informed and inspired athletes are committed athletes, and dedication fosters trust and a win-win situation for everyone involved.
Two full novice/freshman eights participated in regattas this season, showcasing the strength of our foundational training. Six to eight of our senior athletes are poised to continue their rowing careers at some of the best collegiate programs in the country, and our spring 2024 U17 athletes, who competed at the SRAA Nationals and USRowing National Championships, are moving forward with a clear vision and high expectations for future success.
While our off-campus boathouse presents unique challenges, we've embraced them by championing engagement that extends our reach via website, newsletters and social media. As we transition into spring, we invite athletes who are unafraid of hard work, and value being part of something bigger than themselves, to join us. Our boathouse is more than a place to train—it's a home where athletes grow, thrive, and succeed together.
To our athletes, families, and supporters, thank you for your unwavering dedication and belief in our program. The best is yet to come.
